Christopher Lutes

Christopher articled with the firm in 2020 and joined GHW as a lawyer following his call to the bar in 2021. Along with his colleagues, he represents clients charged with criminal and quasi-criminal offences at both the trial and appellate level. He has a particular interest in litigating the violation of clients’ civil liberties under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Christopher received a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University, where he studied political science and economics. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick in 2020. During his studies, he served as the Director of the Student Legal Information Centre, the entity providing free legal services to the student body. He was also active in student government, serving as the Chair of the Student Union, and the Representative for the Faculty of Law. On his graduation, he was awarded the Horace Hanson Prize in Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, for excellence in the area of constitutional law.

He is the author of “Hart Failure: Assessing the Mr. Big Confessions Framework Five Years Later,” Manitoba Law Journal, 2020.

He is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, the Toronto Lawyers Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Ontario Bar Association.
